Jayalli Hawthorne Reporting...
The Role Play Market is more than your run of the mill little shopping stop. It has all the hip designers and vendors of all particular periods clothing and items, all on one sim.
Where does a medieval knight go to find his suit of armour or an elf find her pointed ears? What about Luke skywalker needing a new R2D2? Well let me tell you about the place I just found. The nicest man asked that I visit his sim. So I popped over thinking, 'oh a mall..should take a few minutes is all.' Well that was not the case. This place is fantastic. So many different designers covering every role play situation that you can imagine.
Richie Levenque and Anjelica Baxton are the couple behind the vision. Richie has been rping outside of SL for over 18 years in various online platforms. He was big in the Dungeons and Dragons phase which as we all know was quite old school roleplay. Anjelica is the builder, scripter and photoshop hobbyist. The layout of the Mall is a work of art in itself. There are different four story buildings that hold a variety of themed merchandise but is extremely well organized.
They have also launched a website for their mall not only giving them exposure but the designers more visibility. Check out http://roleplaymarket.blogspot.com. There is so much information that is provided here about role playing that the novice will learn massive amounts and even the very experienced rper will pick up some handy tool or idea.
Jayalli Hawthorne: What made you think of this idea?
Richie Levenque: This was my thought when I built it, lol. Have not heard of a place like this. I have 3 RP sims and shopping was such a problem.
Jayalli Hawthorne: Richie, what role play sims did you own?
Richie Levenque: Nogrod ( A Tolkien Based Dwarf sim), The Seven Isles and Isle of Brenn (more Narnia/General RP) and Build-A-Dwarf
Jayalli Hawthorne: How long have you been open?
Richie Levenque: Only about 3 weeks is all.
(I was amazed at the amount of traffic in just three weeks time.)
I couldn't help but start looking around. Being a role player myself, I could barely wait for the tour. They started me in the SciFi area, noticed lots of familiar designers, such as: NovaTech, Aubretec, Susa's Shipyard, ND/MD Skins and Shapes, just to name a few. Next, they ran me through the Misc RP/Accessories that housed the things that don't fit anywhere else. A very interesting menagerie of items really. Gothic and Dark Role Play followed which used all four floors of the building. I glanced in long enough to see different booths that were filled with the designs of Morphe Inc., Effie's design, Wynx Whiplash and AnthoXctasy and more on back in the building. As we were going in and out of buildings, Richie showed me an interesting wall. Its the wall of rping sims. If a sim rps, you can advertise there free. So if you are trying to find a particular rp sim, stop by and check out this wall.
About this time, I ran into one of the vendors that had recently rented a spot. Rathwynn Clawtooth, a nice guy that I had met previously in Medieval England and at the sim called carmerthenshire. His comments on the Mall were, "This place is amazingly well made." He was sure on target with his observations as far as I was concerned. We quickly went through the other areas, glancing in and out of booths along the way. Yes, I will admit that in the preparation of this story, by far, spent much more money there than was paid to me for writing. Just a list of the areas that we flew through were: Furries & Tinies, NEKO & ANIME, Ancient Civilizations, Victorian & Steampunk, Medievil, High Fantasy, Pirate, Sci Fi, Gothic and the Misc as previously mentioned. The vendors that I saw in this mall were so many that it would be impossible for me to mention them all but should say that this is a definite place that all role players need to check out. It is your one stop role play shop. You name it, they got it. So I will see you there.
