Wurlitzer: How did you get started singing in RL?

Jonas: I have been singing all of my life. I started professionally when I was 12 years old

Wurlitzer: How did you make the transition of being involved as a singer in SL?

Jonas: Well I started off in SL as most do in the nightclub dancer, escort and sex slave industry LOL then got into Real Estate, as part of my Real Estate dealings I was hiring DJ's for events, after a while to save money I figured since I had DJ'ed myself in RL I should figure it out and do it myself, at a party i was DJing once one of my own recordings had slipped into the rotation, I stopped it and apologized, one of the audience members was an SL musician (Rosedrop Rust) and one thing led to another rusty got me involved and that was back in 2006 I've been at it ever since at times its been enough to make my full time living JUST in SL alone.

Wurlitzer: How long have you been working as an SL musician for?

Jonas: Since 2006

Wurlitzer: What are some songs you have recently covered?

Jonas: All of the standards, jazz, swing, Big band, a lot of Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. I also do a lot of 50's party rock, Elvis and the gang :) I sometimes sprinkle some contemporary songs in there for fun.

Wurlitzer: Do you listen to other singers in SL? Any favorites?

Jonas: Oh, I get out as much as I can, I adore Phoe Nix, and TJ Oanamachi, Freestar Tammas, Scarletta Roux, Avvy Barzane, Digby Smalls, Blu Docrut....the list goes on...and I'm sure I'm screwing up spellings.

Wurlitzer: If you had the opportunity, would you perform with other musicians in SL?

Jonas: This is something I have been wanting to do for ages, just never seem to get around to it...have talked with a few about it.

Wurlitzer: Who goes about choosing the songs... you or the fans? 

Jonas: Mainly me...but my fans are ALWAYS requesting new music.

Wurlitzer: Who are some of your musical influences?

Jonas: Michael Buble, Elvis, Sammy Davis Jr, Bobby Darren :)

Wurlitzer: What are your thoughts on music performance in SL?

Jonas: I adore it, I love the live music scene, I wish the clubs could find a way to make more money and I wish there was not such a divide between musicians who use live instruments as opposed to prerecorded tracks but I love the live music scene in SL.

Wurlitzer: Do you have CD's or plan to produce any for your fans here?

Jonas: I have plenty of recordings, I have sold MP3s in world before but I have never really gotten into that avenue as much...I should though....

Wurlitzer: How do you connect your audio stream into SL?

Jonas: I have a very extensive setup in RL, and I send that signal into my computer and broadcast with a Shoutcast server.

Wurlitzer: Do you use an agent or set things up on your own in SL?

Jonas: I do have a manager in SL...my partner Charley Trenchcoat handles my bookings and such.

Wurlitzer: What do you do outside of SL?

Jonas: I sing professionally outside of SL as well...I just recently closed the doors on my performing arts school that SL actually saved about a year ago...it was in danger of closing and my fans got together and we raised 900 thousand lindens over a three day concert of me and my students....that money helped keep my school open another year, but the economy just got too bad we had to close most of my students families had lost jobs in a big lay off.

Wurlitzer: Have you had any formal vocal training that helped you out with singing in SL?

Jonas: I have had many years of vocal training.

Wurlitzer: If you could choose any year of music to sing, what year would that be, and why?

Jonas: 1950....I love the rock n' roll but the jazz and swing were still big and still around.

Wurlitzer: What are some popular audience requests?

Jonas: It depends on who is there everyone has their own favorites some like the fun party songs, some like the jazz ballads, some like the sexy nitty gritty :)

Wurlitzer: How often do you perform in SL?

Jonas: Almost daily sometimes multiple gigs a day...I try to make at least one appearance a day though :)

Wurlitzer: Have you ever worked with a band outside of SL?

Jonas: Yes very often, It's very hard to get a live big band monarchist in my home at 3 am,

So I perform with pre recorded tracks inworld.

Wurlitzer: Have you had any SL reviews written about any of your performances?

Jonas: Numerous and all have been great so far (knocks on pixel wood!!!)

Wurlitzer: When is your next live performance?

Jonas: Join my group and find out each day where I will be :)

Wurlitzer: Has anything embarrassing ever happened to you on stage?

Jonas: Oh dear God yes.....well one of the joys of singing in SL is I don't need costumes or my suit IRL often times I will be very undressed....sometimes naked....once I was on my couch naked singing and my front door was unlocked....a good friend of mine opened the door in the middle of a ballad and it scared the hell out of me I jumped and screamed and tried to cover myself up all live on the air LOL that was fun.
