Wurlitzer: What's your avatar's history been like Potnia?

Potnia: I was first introduced to SL by two real life friends. They helped me get started and learn the ropes. I knew right away that I wanted to be a designer in SL. I started my first store called RSVP only a few weeks after my rez date. It likewise only lasted a few weeks and I decided to spend more time on the grid before trying again. PR club manager Runway, Burlesque Dancer, RP Storyteller, Admin, Moderator, Theatre Director, Club Owner, a little bit of modeling, and a writer for Runway magazine before they closed. Then I opened Urban Funeral on Easter Day 2008. Ora Trei Designs is one of my most recent and ongoing projects.

Wurlitzer: How did the inspiration behind the name Ora Trei come about?

Potnia: Ora Trei means 3 o'clock in Romanian. I chose it partly because I like the sound of the name. It is also partly an abstract reference to time and trinity. Patience, persistence, perseverance. It was practically my mantra in the early days of designing. Still is really.

Wurlitzer: Where is Ora Trei Designs located?

Potnia: Vassnia Island

Wurlitzer: How long did it take to create Ora Trei?

Potnia: 2-3 months of testing and revision for the actual Ora Trei line. Urban Funeral, my first official store, is a sub label and took nearly 6 months to fully develop.

Wurlitzer: Who are the staff involved with Ora Trei & what are their roles?

Potnia: Well, your sweetheart, Kat Msarko is the Executive Director and model manager for the Ora Trei store. She does an incredible job and I don't know what I'd do without her. Vampires Bulloch, another very good friend of mine, manages the Urban Funeral/IADA store. We have 12-14 live store models. (names) can't name all of them, but you can go to the main store and see their pictures on the employee wall.

Wurlitzer: What was your first customer experience in SL like for Ora Trei Designs?

Potnia: I don't actually remember who the very first customer was. For the grand opening, we did a raffle for a gift card and a ground hog day hunt with little hidden groundhogs. Honeybear was actually the first person there that day and Vamp showed up right behind her. My first customers were mostly friends but a few people that I didn't know. What I remember most about then was how much fun it was and how excited I was to have it finally open.

Wurlitzer: What were your desires for joining Second Life?

Potnia: To make clothes. I really wanted to build a business here that I could enjoy and use to help support my toddler son in real life.

Wurlitzer: What are some of the inspirations that are featured at Ora Trei Designs?

Potnia: Well, most of my inspiration for designing comes from movies and magazines, things I've worn in real life, or wished I could wear in real life....a lot of them come from dreams I have.

Wurlitzer: Whats are the price range for the items that Ora Trei carries?

Potnia: From L49 - L815

Wurlitzer: What are your favorite ways of promoting Ora Trei Designs?

Potnia: Groups, Fashion Trend, Fash Con, Fashion-R-US, my sub group, my main group, Quality Couture...I like to post ads in magazines sometimes....eventually though I think the best advertising is word of mouth and people wearing my things when they go out.

Wurlitzer: How did Ora Trei Designs get involved with UVogue Fashion Agency for a recent event?

Potnia: I have been good friends with the recently appointed COO Honeybear Lilliehook for about a year. It was perfectly natural that I would decide to do my first show with their agency.

Wurlitzer: What were the features of the recent fashion event for UVogue?

Potnia: The theme was City Chic and the outfits I submitted followed a summery theme. The main outfit that inspired the theme is called "Metropolitan".

Wurlitzer: Any future plans for more Ora Trei fashion shows?

Potnia: There is a Glance fashion show on the 20th and I will be doing a show with Fashion Trend sometime in the near future. I'll be doing more shows with the FDASL too.

Wurlitzer: What is it like for one to sit and watch your ideas and inspirations worn by various avatars in SL, do you ever walk around and notice somebody's wearing an outfit of yours you just created a few weeks ago, hows it feel?

Potnia: Really really good...it's so great to see someone happily wearing something I made.

Wurlitzer: What are some groups that members can join regarding Ora Trei Designs?

Potnia: Subscription group, premium group.

Wurlitzer: As a designer, what are the challenges you constantly face, in order to appeal to the general public?

Potnia: Well, permissions can be a difficultly sometimes. many of us as designers prefer not to have modify permission on our textures because it makes them so easy to copy, but it's easier to adapt the outfit to the avatar when everything is modify, so that's a challenge there. Another aspect of that is arranging prim clothing to fit or be stretched to fit most avatars. I have had a few customers that came by and I fitted clothing for them according to their shape.

Wurlitzer: How many times do you hold special group events for Ora Trei Designs?

Potnia: Well, we just started doing weekly free gifts a few weeks ago for premium group members. There is a different weekly free gift at the main store too. We'll be doing a Flickr contest starting next week. We will probably start doing larger events like shows or hunts once or twice a month.

Wurlitzer: Does Ora Trei Designs have any sponsors?

Potnia: Nope, no sponsors.

Wurlitzer: What would you like to see Ora Trei Designs bring to the SL6B event?

Potnia: Ora Trei is really about diversity and variety. The theme I chose for the SL6B event is "Culture Soup", a small photo and art gallery depicting the future of cultural harmony in SL.

Wurlitzer: If you weren't involved with Ora Trei Designs, what would you be doing?

Potnia: I can't easily imagine being without the clothing stores to work on now, but I would probably be involved in SL theater in some way.

Wurlitzer: What do you like to do in your spare time in SL away Ora Trei Designs?

Potnia: Spend time with my family.

Wurlitzer: How do you see the future of Second life?

Potnia: More people..more businesses...just bigger and bigger.

Wurlitzer: Where do you see Ora Trei Designs 6 months from now?

Potnia: I hope that in 6 months I'll have more hairstyles and some jewelry and hopefully over double the content. Hopefully a bigger store too and I'll probably have a separate hair store on Vassnia.

Wurlitzer: Have you ever been affected by content theft?

Potnia: I have not personally (not that I'm aware of) but close designer friends of mine have. I promote anti content theft movements and keep myself updated on content theft as much as possible.

Wurlitzer: What would you like to be known for in Second Life?

Potnia: Hmm...an artist that likes to make pretty things for people?

Wurlitzer: Do you have any favorite advice you would like to share with the audience about clothing/designing?

Potnia: Tutorials!! Hours of tutorials are the best designing medicine. I read and watch SL tutorials and Photoshop tutorials. I have a whole video set on working with Adobe CS programs. My second piece of advice...DON'T QUIT. If you really love what you do in SL, keep going, keep trying to make your products better and ask your customers for advice and constructive criticism on what they think is better.
